01. Local-First Architecture

Reflow Reader and the Reflow Converter are engineered from the ground up as open-source, local-first applications. Your electronic books (EPUBs), personal reading notes, highlights, reading progress, and custom settings reside locally on your physical device via secure IndexedDB and filesystem sandboxes. The software functions completely offline.

02. Google Drive Synchronization & Data Scope

If you choose to link Google Drive for cross-device cloud synchronization and automated reading backups:

  • Strictly Non-Sensitive Scope: Reflow requests only the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file OAuth scope. This permission strictly restricts Reflow to files that Reflow itself creates or uploads (such as your reading progress backups and synchronized books in your designated Reflow_Library folder).
  • No Access to Other Files: Reflow has zero access to view, read, index, or modify any other personal documents, spreadsheets, photos, or files in your Google Drive account.
  • Client-Side Credentials: All OAuth tokens are encrypted and retained directly on your physical device. We operate no intermediate authentication servers, proxy relays, or tracking databases.

03. AI Features & Literary Companion

When using in-book AI companion features (such as character summaries, chapter recaps, X-Ray analysis, or neural text-to-speech), requests are sent directly from your client to your configured AI provider (e.g. Google Gemini, OpenAI, or ElevenLabs) using your own personal API keys. Reflow never logs, sells, or monetizes your queries, prompts, or book excerpts.

04. Zero Third-Party Tracking

Reflow contains no advertising networks, marketing trackers, telemetry brokers, or third-party behavioral analytics. Your reading habits remain strictly private to you.

05. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

Reflow's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

06. Contact & Open Source Auditing
